Vorkuta - Street post-photography with Google Street View

Vorkuta is a mining town in the Komi Republic of Russia. Its population was approximately 51,000 in 2022. Known as the "Tundra City," it is located 150 km north of the Arctic Circle in the Pechora mining basin. One of the harshest Gulag camps was built in the basin in 1932. It was nicknamed "the Ice Guillotine." Gulag prisoners built the town of Vorkuta and worked the region's mines.
